This is a song about internet and social media burnout, on a personal and societal scale. It's literal as well as a bit meta, in that this song (and almost everything nowadays) is streaming/downloaded off of the internet.
The song itself is a bit influenced by Woody Guthrie, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Lynne, The Doobie Brothers, Ryan Adams….and maybe even the Eagles.

tapping on a screen
strange how things go
how you feel so mean
scifi future got you so uptight
better take your shades off
cause it ain't looking bright
are you on sleep mode
did you put up a wall
what's the status now
every cloud is gonna fall
I'm over the internet
I'm feeling so out of it
if this is good as it gets
I'm over the internet
ever wonder why things are getting so bad
everyone's so lucky they forget the past
getting high on yourself must feel so rad
remember when emotions were a thing you had
are you on sleep mode
did you put up a wall
what's the status now
every cloud is gonna fall
I'm over the internet
I'm feeling so out of it
if this is good as it gets
I'm over the internet
remember what it's like to go outside
remember what it's like to control your life
remember what it's like to stand in the sun
this brain drain game don't feel so fun
I'm over the internet
I'm feeling so out of it
if this is good as it gets
I'm over the internet
I'm over the internet
I'm over the internet
I'm over the internet
I'm over the internet
